Aramark Collegiate Hospitality is launching a handful of recipes in honor of National Nutrition Month that are designed to provide students with healthy food options that are easy to make.

Its Bites That Do it Right recipe collection features menu items that are simple to prepare and use limited ingredients so that they are a convenient option for students.

The recipes are being launched as part of Aramark’s Take 15 program which is designed to help students take 15 minutes for themselves each day to unwind and destress.

According to a 2024 survey by consulting firm Deloitte, 40% of Gen Z said they feel anxious or stressed most of the time. Aramark’s 2024 Dining Style survey also found that 40% of students who participated in the survey said that mindful eating is one of the most important factors for their mental wellbeing. The survey also revealed that 60% of students surveyed prefer healthy food options and 59% want fresh food options.

"Many college students feel stressed and overwhelmed," said Brandi Heatherly, Aramark Collegiate Hospitality’s health and wellness council lead and performance excellence vice President. "Bites That Do It Right encourages them to take a break and enjoy nutritious snacks that support their health and well-being. Our goal is to make students more self-sufficient and aware of the foods they can prepare on their own.”

In addition to the new recipes, the food management company is hosting pop-ups throughout the month where students will be able to sample some of the recipes featured, including Sunflower Butter Chocolate Energy Bites, Blueberry-Banana Smoothies and Strawberry Overnight Oats.

The connection between food and wellness has become a growing focus in the college dining segment. Many dining programs are placing a higher emphasis on teaching students how their food impacts not only their physical health, but their mental health as well. Last year for example, the University of Pennsylvania launched its Dine Well, Eat Smart program where the dining team hosts monthly dining hall takeovers that feature a different wellness theme.
